I used this with my third year drama class doing a devices play on intercultural relationships to tell them, the problem most times lies within. the shoe in this case, the other person, will always wear the same if you carry your issues into every new relationships. the message being, sit back, identify your issues and deal with them so you are in a better position to love. no one else can solve your issues and until you accept that, projecting them on someone else you see as a possible ‘savior’ will mostly never work but end in frustration. thanks for reading and commenting on this post. this is my life’s philosophy.
I got the abstraction, perhaps I felt heavy with so much understanding of pain and wish of the protagonist to face it standing in his own shoes , fair and square …was trying not to understand the abstract….Sorry. But your philosophy is clear.
And it perhaps explains why acting is your passion , there you can honestly escape your self. No cheating , it is honestly playing the role of some one else. I did it for a while , so I understand.
I had to get over the role of a victim to be able to portray it on stage. At one stage in life it freaked me out , as I was essaying those roles on stage , perhaps attracting those roles everywhere , I was too young inexperienced to handle fame, role play , etc.
Medicine seemed safer 🙂 No lights . White coat. Stethoscope power. Stage does tempt me , I did enjoy it , when I was in safe shadows of others …..Nostalgia. My bad….
hey, did i read this right, “the role of a victim … as i was essaying those roles on stage, perhaps attracting those roles everywhere.” i have read a lot of your writing and suddenly this throws light on most of them. do/did i sense you in those stories. if so, no need to apologize, this just deepens the respect i already have for you. i admire your strength. by the way, medicine is my pet subject – is this the right term for it.
Yup ” Doctoring ” is mine. I played only two role playing games from childhood ” Doctor” and ” teacher” , so I am doing that now….writing helps me do them better. Identifying or empathizing with victims in all situations often made me a victim of victims also ! It is a tough role to don for real. Thank you so much for reading all my works.
“doctoring,” put a smile on my face because in the warmth i sense from you, i sense a disciplinarian flitting around around somewhere. those been doctored will be loved no doubt, but they won’t be allowed to take advantage of what’s supposed to be for their benefit. about your work, your writing and comments bring me enlightenment and insight because they are pithy.

Yes , it wont. Yet sometimes it expresses your mood. Accessories are either for comfort or expression of self.

this cracked me up. the idea of escapism is pleasing but then the lights always go out and reality returns. true, the rabbit hole has its uses.
